A Message From Our Fearless Leader About "Lizzie Borden, Lizzie Borden"
"Lizzie Borden, Lizzie Borden" is one of the most exciting projects I've ever started, because it's going to kick off the theatrical equivalent of a Cinematic Universe.
Right now, in about ten different notebooks, I'm working on a series of around fifteen interconnected plays that begins with "Lizzie...," carries over into "American Drag" in April, and involves the characters from my previous plays, including "American Strippers," "Kill the Virgin," and "Marshall."
The plan is to present these plays over the next few years, starting with "Lizzie" and "Drag" and build up to a major theatrical event. You all know I'm a huge film fan, and one of the things fan has done that I think theater has been a little slow about, is finding ways to make an audience feel like what they're seeing is an *event* and one way to do that is to reward audiences who rush to see your work and faithfully follow you on your artistic journey.
All of the plays can stand on their own, but if you're a regular Epic audience member, you're definitely in for a wild ride.
And it all starts with Lizzie.
