From Liz To Lizzie
A Message from Our Fearless Leader
It wouldn't be an Epic season without a few surprises.
As much as we loved our plans for March, at the end of last year, I wrote a script that I got really excited about.
I took the script to a college I was guest teaching at for a week, and we did a reading there. After the reading I knew two things--
1. We had to do the play. 2. We had to do it right away.
Sometimes when inspiration strikes, you just can't wait until next season.
So we shifted some things around, made some plans with our friends at Academy Players of Rhode Island, and tonight we have the first read-through of "Lizzie Borden, Lizzie Borden" written and directed by me.
If you're keeping track, that means you'll be getting two Kevin Broccoli World Premieres back-to-back, since "Lizzie" will lead right into "American Drag" in April.
That means if you like me and my writing, you're in luck, and if you don't, well I doubt we've been seeing much of you anyway, but apologies all the same.
"Lizzie Borden, Lizzie Borden" is unlike anything I've ever written before, and it's going to kick off a massive project the scope of which is something audiences rarely get a chance to experience.
Our first read-through is tonight, and I can't wait to dive in. Watch this space, and--
