Meet The Cast Of "The Secret Garden"
We had so much fun with our childhood questionnaires for "Charlotte's Web" that we decided to do it again with the cast and crew of "The Secret Garden."
We asked Anastasia LaFrance, who plays Martha Sowerby, all about the things she loved as a child and here are her answers.
1. What was your favorite book as a child?
In fourth grade I developed a wild obsession with Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. I thought it such a beautiful albeit tragic story and it taught me about acceptance, mortality, and injustice. I still think we were maybe too young to be reading that?
2. What was your favorite film?
I watched the Brandy Norwood version of (“Cinderella Brandy!”) so many times that I’d bet my life on the resilience of that VHS tape. I also used to tell people that my name was Cinderella and get incredibly upset when my parents would correct me.
3. What did you want to be when you grew up?
An actor. Or a doctor. I couldn’t decide. Turns out I didn’t have to! I’ll be starting my Master’s program for Psychology soon! You’re going to have to list me as Dr. LaFrance in the program once that happens.
4. Who was your best friend?
Ashley! Still is my best friend. 18 years now! We met in first grade and I absolutely hated her. How dare she wear sweatpants with maryjanes.
5. Who was your favorite teacher?
My first grade teacher, Mrs. Caizza. I’ve never met anyone who had so much patience with children. She used to have an “alter ego”, where she’d leave the room, put on these humongous green costume glasses, walk back in and act like this horrid mean teacher. We got the biggest kick out of it and I think it taught us to not get upset when she’d get understandably strict with us.
6. What did you like to do during the summer?
I spent every summer going to my grandparents’ house for the weekdays. They lived in senior housing and I became friends with everyone else’s grandkids. My Nana and Papa would take me to the Cape or Plymouth for the day and they’d get me mermaid jewelry and take me mini-golfing at Pirate’s Cove. They just spoiled me.
7. What were you afraid of?
The animatronics at Bugaboo Creek and Chuck E Cheese’s. F**k that noise.
8. What was your favorite food?
Fettuccine Alfredo. Hasn’t changed. Those were probably my first words.
9. What was your favorite place?
Probably my bedroom. I was an only child and there was nothing I loved more than just spending time with myself. And my Bratz dolls.
10. Name somebody who changed your life.
