Our Next Book Club Selection
We're starting off the new year with a book that made quite a splash in 2019.
After kicking off our Epic Book Club with three books about creativity and the arts, we've diving into the world of fiction, with Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi.
"Oyeyemi is one of the most interesting authors writing today," says Epic Artistic Director Kevin Broccoli, "She's already made a name for herself with a short but substantial career that tells enthralling stories with a classic fascination. I can't wait to discuss her with the members of our Epic Book Club."
Gingerbead is the story of a mother and daughter who live in London and bake (you guessed it) gingerbread. When the daughter goes digging into her mother's past, secrets are revealed and the bond they share is called into question.
"I'm looking forward to moving into fiction as we take this club into 2020," says Broccoli, "So much ground-breaking work is being done in that arena, and in the same way Epic enjoys producing forward-thinking theater, now we can talk about some truly out-of-the-box literature as well."
Join the Epic Book Club by picking up a copy of Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi. The first meeting of the new year will be on Sunday, January 19th @ 2pm.
